When it comes to elliptical machines, there are basically 2 types: commercial gym quality elliptical machines and elliptical machines made for home use.
Gym quality machines are pretty expensive, the price tags are well over $2000, but they’re built to sustain heavy use.
Home ellipticals are cheaper but they’re also not that great if you really want to get a daily/weekly challenging workout.
This is where the E35 Sole Fitness elliptical trainer comes in.
The Sole Fitness E35 elliptical machine is a solid piece of fitness equipment, it’s a gym quality machine but without the overblown price.
The E35 elliptical trainer brings you the best of both worlds: top quality machine at an affordable price.
This is why it’s our #1 top pick for the best elliptical machines in 2017.

Build and Design
The Sole E35 elliptical machine is very well built. It’s sturdy and stable. You can really tell that Sole put a lot of effort into making the E35 an amazing fitness machine.
The E35 is a beast of a machine that can withstand heavy daily usage without showing any signs of fatigue.
When it’s fully assembled the machine is 82 inches long, 31 inches wide and 58 inches tall. It weighs about 215 pounds and it has a max weight limit of 375 pounds.
The parts are really high quality and everything fits together nicely. The build will take you about 6-7 hours depending how fast you go.
A lot of people recommend that you should get the assembly service but I suggest that you save yourself some money and put it together yourself. It will give you a better understanding of how the machine goes together in case you need to tighten or lube something later. It’s going to be easier to do it yourself than to wait for a repair guy.
The machine features oversized, adjustable and cushioned foot pedals that are specifically engineered to reduce fatigue and decrease the impact on your knees and ankles.
Resistance Levels and Incline
The Sole Fitness E35 elliptical trainer comes with 20 levels of resistance and adjustable incline functions.
The heavy, 29 pound flywheel in combination with high gear ratio let’s you experience a smooth and natural motion, making your training so much more enjoyable.
The controls that allow you to adjust the incline are conveniently located on the handle bars so you can modify the incline angle without having to get off.
The incline levels go from 0 to 30 degrees. That means an even more challenging workout and a better muscle group targeting.
The stride length can be adjusted from 20 to 22 inches which ensures a comfortable position during the workout whether you’re going forward or in reverse.
The machine stays quiet even if your workout is more intense.
The Electronic Console
The Sole E35 features a 7.5 inch backlit LCD display that’s easy to read. The distance, speed, time, calories, pulse, pace, incline and resistance level are all displayed on the monitor.
The new model comes with Bluetooth connectivity so you can transfer all your training data to your smartphone and import it into a fitness tracking app.
The stationary handlebars are fitted with grip pulse sensors which track your heart rate. This is good to know if you’re trying to maintain a target heart rate and pace your workout.
The machine also comes with a wireless chest strap.
If you like listening to music while you workout, the Sole E35 elliptical has decent quality speakers that allow you to plugin an MP3 player and play your favorite workout playlists.
The Sole E35 elliptical trainer features 10 workout programs.
There are the 5 basic programs that most elliptical machines have: cardio, fat burn, hill, interval and strength.
Two workout programs are heart rate controlled, the resistance is adjusted based on your heart rate so you can maintain it in your target zone.
There’s a manual or quick start program and 2 custom user programs which you can set for yourself and one other person.
